When her mother died in a car accident in 2001, Jia Xiaoling suddenly finds herself transported back 20 years prior to the year 1981, where she becomes her mother`s close friend. Realising that she had not been a good daughter in the present, she now tries to do all that she can to guide and give her mother better opportunities and to make the `correct` decisions so that her mother can make a better life for herself in the future. That includes finding a better husband for her as well so that she can have a better life than the one she had the first time around. But if the past is changed, then perhaps Xiaoling does not exist in the future.
